I had been studying the weather forecast for the previous ten days or so and it did not look very promising for Ladies Day.
On the morning we woke to grey skies and drizzle, and not a good outlook. But the rain stopped and although we didn’t have glorious sunshine it stayed dry all day.
Early in the morning the tombola, bric a brac and plant tables were set up ready for their customers. The cups and saucers were set for tea and coffee as the ladies arrived just before 10.00am.
There were 34 bowlers from visiting teams and six ladies played from Hutton. Two games of seven ends were played before lunch.
The lunch was very welcome and there was a great buzz in the hall as the ladies enjoyed their break and the company. I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard in getting it all ready. A special thanks to Lillian, who gets the shopping, organises everything and keeps everyone on their toes on the day. We are going to miss her as this was her last Ladies Day before she moves. Also a big thank you to Fred for cooking the potatoes so perfectly all these years.
Once lunch was over we returned to the rinks for one more game. At the end of the three games the scores are added up and the winning lady receives the trophy. The winner this year was me! I was lucky to have been on three winning rinks which all had fairly high scores.
Thank you again to everyone who helped to make Ladies Day a success.
